PIQSIQ
Sisters Tiffany Ayalik and Inuksuk Mackay create and perform Inuit-style throat singing – both ancient traditional songs and eerie new compositions. In Inuktitut, a “piqsiq” (pron. pilk-silk) is a storm where winds blow in a very specific way, making it seem as if the snow is falling back up towards the sky. The duo’s live shows are inspired by the world around them, their own perspectives, and an invitation to the audience to help steer the journey songs will take – making each performance unique. They leave listeners enthralled at their ability to weave complex emotional landscapes that transcend language.
