Singer/Songwriter Leonard Sumner is an Anishinaabe musician hailing from the shores of Little Saskatchewan First Nation, located in the heart of Manitoba. It is from his home that his storytelling flows, and through which he channels multiple landscapes of music including Hip-Hop, Spoken Word, Country, and Rhythm and Blues. Leonard’s music is a medicine made to heal the wounds of the past in a period of unsettling history as he walks the line between fortitude and fragility. With every note played and every vibration of the strings of his guitar, Leonard seeks to rattle the dust off truths that have been buried for far too long. As he takes the stage, his poetic lyrics aim to wake the consciousness of audiences who may even have been unaware of their slumber.
